HAMILTON striker Mickael Antoine-Curier hopes to gun down Celtic on Saturday... but is facing a race against time to make the lunchtime showdown.
The big striker picked up a knee injury in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw against Kilmarnock and will not receive the results of scans until the eve of the game.
At the time of going to press there was no indication of how serious the injury is, but Antoine-Curier said: “We’ll just have to see how it is. I need to wait 48 hours to see what’s happening with the scan and we’ll take it from there.
“I landed heavily on it and felt something. It’s still very sore. I’m just praying that it’s not too serious and I can carry on for the rest of the season.”
If passed fit, Antoine-Curier hopes to continue an impressive scoring rate against the Old Firm – but insists that he wants goals against everybody.
Antoine-Curier last hit the net in the 3-3 draw against Rangers on January 10 (pictured right), and feels that he’s letting his team-mates down – which could serve as a warning to Celtic.
He said: “It’s a cracking game and I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully, we can put in a good performance.
“I want to score goals against every team, it’s not just Celtic or Rangers – Kilmarnock, Falkirk, whoever, I don’t care – I just want to score goals.
“I just want to score and help my team-mates, and for the team to win.
“If I score and we lose 3-1, then it’s not a great achievement but if I score and we win the game, or I contribute to somebody else getting a goal, then I think my job is done and I’m happy.
“At the moment, I don’t think I’m doing my job because I should be scoring goals. My team-mates count on me and I need to do it.
“I just want to have one chance and score, but, unfortunately, that’s not happening for me at the moment.”
Like many inside New Douglas Park, Mickael was disappointed with Tuesday’s drab draw, but admitted Accies were running on empty.
He said: “It was disappointing because we were at home and tried to play good football, but you can’t fault the players for their efforts.
“The whole team is tired but that’s no excuse. I love football and would play every day if I could.
“We’ve just got to keep going and try to play well against Celtic.”
