JAMES WESOLOWSKI blasted in his first-ever league goal to dump Aberdeen on Saturday and said boss Billy Reid got his tactics spot-on.
The 22-year-old reckons Reid was right to set his side up to counter-attack the Dons as they won at Pittodrie for the second time in three visits.
He said: “It was great to get my first goal. I had a great chance in the first half and when I missed it I thought ‘maybe it will never come’, but I was lucky enough to get that second opportunity.
“Mickael put a great little pass through for me, he pretty much put it on a plate and all I had to do was slot it in.
“It was good to get the winner and it was a nice team goal; watching it back on TV we played some nice football leading up to the goal and during the game when we counter-attacked at pace.
“We played a good game and got the three points, which is the main thing at this time of the season.”
Australian midfielder James admits he should be hitting the back of the net more often.
He said: “I’ve been saying all the way through my career that I need to get more goals and it’s something that I’ve been trying to add to my game recently.
“I’ve been doing extra shooting in training and I think, with Alex Neil back, it gives me a lot more of an opportunity to maybe get forward and I’m enjoying that.
“I like to get forward, help out the team, and maybe I can get a few more goals.
“Hopefully, getting that first one will give me a bit of confidence.”
