Wesolowski is happy to extend loan at Hamilton Accies

JAMES WESOLOWSKI is delighted to have tied up a deal keeping him at Hamilton until the end of this season, but insists he’s still taking things week by week.

The midfielder was on a loan deal from Leicester until the turn of the year, but several excellent performances prompted boss Billy Reid to extend that agreement.

James (22) admits it means he can settle down without worrying about where his short-term future lies, but having endured a few serious injuries in his career, he’s taking nothing for granted.

He said: “I’m very happy with the deal. I’ve enjoyed the first two or three months I’ve been here, I’ve really enjoyed being around the club – we’ve a great set of lads and the manager has got us playing a lot better.

“We’ve had a tough start to the season and it’s really the case that everyone is just starting to gel and know each other’s game. You can see on the pitch now that there’s a lot more cohesion and I think that’s a good sign for the future.”

The Australian added: “The six months have gone by really quickly, so to get the whole season is great for me and, hopefully, I’ll be able to get a lot of consecutive games under my belt.

“At this moment in my career, I just want to be getting back to playing football and at the moment I’m taking it pretty much week by week.”

James was disappointed not to have celebrated his new deal with a win at St Johnstone, but he has turned his attention to Sunday’s live TV clash against Hearts at New Douglas Park.

He said: “We played well at Tynecastle earlier this season and it was one of the turning points in our season, although we lost 2-1.

“We know we can match Hearts and we’ll be on our turf this time with the crowd behind us, so, hopefully, we’ll be able to get the result.”
