Accies Girls under-13s finish runners up in league

HAMILTON Accies Under-13 (white) finished runners-up in their league with a commanding 9-0 win over Dumfries on Saturday.

Following last week’s great League Cup win, it was a second medal for the hard-working girls.

Having played a number of consecutive games away from home, Hamilton were delighted to be on familiar territory and started the game strongly.

Laura Gallen provided an early lead that was never challenged, with Tammi Jeffrey, Karen Baillie and Jodie Brannan (2) giving Accies a 5-0 interval lead.

Jeffrey grabbed a second and Baillie a double to complete her second consecutive hat-trick.

Gallen ended the scoring midway through the second half with her own second of the game.

Dumfries did try to attack on several occasions but Accies were disciplined at the back and Kayleigh Lowell in the Hamilton goal dealt with anything that came her way.

Accies coach Douglas Baillie said: “I was delighted again with the way the girls moved the ball from back to front and their achievements this season are a reflection on the effort that they put in every week at training.

“Well done girls on achieving second spot in the league.”

Hamilton: Kayleigh Lowell, Kimberley Black, Beth Preston, Sophie Coghill, Tammi Jeffrey, Hannah Preston, Jodie Brannan, Hannah O’Keane, Laura Gallen, Karen Baillie.

Meanwhile, Hamilton’s under-11 squad took part in a festival at Cambuslang on Sunday to wrap up the season.

Hamilton put three teams forward to the event and all of the girls did really well, showing they will be ready for next season.
