Three Accies girls in Scotland u-19 squad

THREE Hamilton Accies Scottish Women’s Premier League players are in the Scotland Under-19 squad for the first qualifying round of the European Championships in Bulgaria on Monday.

The delighted trio are Lee Alexander, Laura Murray and Sarah Crilly.

Hamilton Accies’ Divisional team slumped to a 5-2 defeat at Troon last weekend. While the scoreline didn’t reflect the game, Troon took their chances. Hamilton’s goals came from Laura Graham and Laura Lindsay.

Team: Gibson, Park, Graham, Smith, Paton, Murphy, Hillman, Burn, McEwan, McLaren, McIntyre. Subs: McAnulty, Lindsay, Fluke, Nee. Player of the Match: Madeline Hillman.

Accies under-13 Red thoroughly dominated against Dumfries at Bent Park, running out comfortable 13-0 winners.

Hamilton opened the scoring through Shauna Flynn in the first minute and led 5-0 at the interval. Shauna grabbed a second late in the game and further goals were scored by Helena Montague (4), Chantelle Brown (3), Hayley Sime (3) and Nicola Barret.

Coach Jim Masterson said: “The girls were outstanding and showed good teamwork and determination throughout the game.”

Accies under-11 Team 1 were looking for their third straight victory but were beaten by a very physical Clark Drive side, who ran out 6-4 winners. Accies were also left counting the cost of a bruising encounter, with five players injured. Hamilton’s four goals came from their Player of the Match Sam McMillan.

Accies’ under-11s Team 2 were dumped 4-0 by Ayr.

Hamilton started well and had early chances but Ayr defended well and then came back strongly in a first half which finished goal-less. The second half started in much the same fashion, but as time went by Hamilton tired and Ayr stepped up to grab the lead with a very well-worked goal and added three more goals in the closing 10 minutes.
