Hamilton beaten by league leaders Rangers

Hamilton Accies 0 Rangers 1

RANGERS  came out 1-0 winners today at New Douglas Park following an entertaining 90 minutes.

Accies struggled to create anything worthwhile in the final third of the pitch, despite having a decent first half which saw them retain a lot of possession in midfield.

However, the Ibrox side always looked far more dangerous, with Kenny Miller's runs on the outside right stretching the Hamilton defence to the limit, resulting in a tactical change from Billy Reid before half-time. 38-year-old Chris Swailes was replaced by James Gibson.

While James McCarthy and Richard Offiong lacked threat, Kris Boyd and Miller continually threatened Tomas Cerny, who had an outstanding game.

The deadlock was broken on the 35th minute, while a low drive into the bottom corner from outside th area by Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson.

Neither side capitalised on their chances in the second half, with Accies resorting to long balls into the box that were easily cleared.

The away side came out deserved winners, but the match will be dominated by the incident where Gers defender David Weir was struck by an object thrown from the main stand.
