Quinn is mighty pleased with his debut for Accies

ROCCO QUINN was pleased with his debut as Hamilton turfed Dundee United out of the Scottish Cup and hopes to be pitched in to his first Lanarkshire derby on Saturday.

Hamilton lad Quinn (22) grew up as an Accies fan and is no stranger to watching clashes with rivals Motherwell.

He desperately wants to be involved at Fir Park.

The former Celtic starlet said: “It’s another big game, a local derby and all the rest of it, so I’ll just work hard in training this week and see what happens.

“I’m no stranger to that derby, being a Hamilton boy, and I know what it’s all about so I’m really looking forward to it.

“Obviously I’ve come here to play football and I’d be delighted to be involved in a big game like that.”

Quinn was pleased to help Accies reach the Homecoming Scottish Cup quarter-finals and was impressed as his new side knocked out a side hoping for UEFA Cup football next term.

He said: “The last time I played at SPL level was when I was on loan at Kilmarnock and that was a good few years now but I thought I did OK on my debut.

“That’s all down to the boys and the manager, who have made me feel at home and made me really welcome.

“Dundee United are a quality side so for us to get a result against them shows how much we’ve come on. Over the piece, we deserved the win.

“I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

“I think we’ve got a great bunch of boys and a quality side.”
