A SIMON Mensing penalty was enough to see Accies through to a 1-0 win over Caley Thistle.
Not the best of games to watch or play in, the winter weather didn’t help what in it’s entirety was a dismal 90 minutes of football.
The Lanarkshire side started brightly but Caley managed to hold out until late on in the first half.
Accies were awarded a spot kick on 38 minutes after Caley Thistle defender Grant Munro tripped Joel Thomas inside the box.
Mensing struck the ball high past Caley keeper Ryan Esson, giving Accies the lead.
Inverness fought back in the second half and struggled for a point but were left wanting as the Accies held out for the win.
The Hamilton side now go six points clear from Inverness at the bottom of the SPL and five points clear from Falkirk who are second bottom.
