Offiong hoping for scoring run

RICHARD Offiong hopes to haul Hamilton back up the SPL table by going on a scoring run – and set his targets on Dundee United this Saturday.

The 24-year-old striker was devastated to end up on the losing side after scoring a cracker against Celtic on Sunday, but hopes his strike can lead to even more goals in the coming weeks.

Offiong struck with a terrific diving header against the Scottish champions and reckons that goal will boost his confidence ahead of this weekend’s trip to Tannadice.

He said: “It was good to get a goal because it’s been a bit of a dry spell for me, but to score against Celtic is always nice.

“It would have been nice if we could have at least got a draw, but it will stand us in good stead for the next game against Dundee United.

“We put so much into the game and ended up with nothing, but that’s why Celtic are champions – they don’t stop, they’ve got loads of quality, and they keep going until the end.”

Offiong added: “Hopefully that puts me on a bit of a run and kicks me on for the rest of the season, and we can get the points we need to get against teams that are around us.”
