HAMILTON boss Billy Reid spoke of his delight after his players scooped a double in the Irn-Bru Phenomenal Awards for April.
Defenders Mark McLaughlin and Brian Easton were named player of the month and young player of the month respectively, and Reid reckons the recognition is long overdue.
Reid said: “I’m absolutely over the moon with that — and I think it’s well deserved.
“Mark has been overlooked in the past but anybody can see the difference he makes to our team; his award is richly deserved.”
Reid added: “Brian Easton is another one who has been overlooked.
“James McCarthy, James McArthur and Richard Offiong seem to be the ones that have picked up awards this year — and rightly so — but Brian Easton’s progression in the last year has been staggering.
“A guy at 6’ 2” pounding down the left wing, making goals and defending properly is sensational, and his attitude is brilliant.
“I think Brian is now starting to get a bit of recognition. It’s taken a bit of time — and I’m bemused that he’s not been picked for Scotland Under-21s.
"They say they have better players in that position, but I know that if Brian Easton was picked for the under-21s he wouldn’t let them down.
“He’s going to show what he can do in the Premier League next season, I guarantee that.”
