HAMILTON Accies yesterday (Wednesday) denied rumours that they are to hand over their plastic pitch to Blantyre Vics.
People in county football circles claimed the Fieldturf synthetic surface would be relayed at Castle Park.
Accies have to replace the pitch with grass and install under-soil heating if they gain promotion to the SPL.
However, the First Division leaders say they can’t give the Central League First Division club the controversial surface because Vics are considering a move away from their Castle Park base.
Accies’ secretary Scott Struthers said: “Blantyre Vics are looking for a new ground; that has been widely reported.
“They don’t have a definite ground for next season, and we need somewhere for the pitch just now, in case we get promoted.
“But we are quite far down the road with regards to a use for our pitch.”
Vics say they haven’t been officially contacted, and secretary Andy McDade commented: “Hamilton Accies phoned us but there is nothing concrete and the pitch wasn’t mentioned.
“They asked if we were moving, and if they could help us out but to be honest I think it would have been more to their benefit.
“That was about a fortnight ago and we’ve heard nothing since.”
