MARK Gilhaney shook his head in disbelief after seeing Partick hero Jon Tuffey keep Hamilton at bay on Saturday in an outstanding goalkeeping display.
The wing ace went closer than most with a 25-yard rocket that produced a stunning save, but he’s told his team-mates to forget about their disappointment and hit the net against St Johnstone this weekend.
Gilhaney (23), knows the outcome of the title race is in Hamilton’s hands.
He said: “That was very frustrating and everybody in the dressing room’s gutted, but we’ll forget about that now and look forward to Saturday’s game against St Johnstone.
“Hopefully we can get the three points there.
“You can’t legislate for the keeper having a performance like that. We did everything right, had shots on target, but he produced some unbelievable saves.
“Jon probably won’t have a game like that for a few years.
“It was hard to take, because we dominated the second half, had plenty of chances and couldn’t find a goal.
“But we just need to forget about it and look forward to Saturday now.”
Gilhaney went close himself on a few occasions, particularly with a 25-yard rocket that Tuffey brilliantly punched over the bar.
Gilhaney said: “I took a good touch and I thought it was in when I hit it but the keeper made a great save. He he made five or six of them, so fair play to him.
“It was just one of those days but the twists and turns will come between now and the end of the season.
“There’s a long way to go yet but with four games to go it’s up to us, because if we win all of our games we’ll win the league.”
Gilhaney knows that all four remaining fixtures are now cup finals.
He said: “The boys have been brilliant, but nothing has been won yet.
“We need to keep going and keep picking up three points.
“Our home record is really good and although we dropped two points on Saturday, we just need to keep winning our games.
“We know in the dressing room that we have a good team and good players, and we’ve proved that throughout the season.
“We’ve been top of the league since day one and the lads want to keep it that way until April 26.”
