HAMILTON boss Billy Reid hopes to add another new signing ahead of Saturday’s First Division clash at Stirling Albion.
The New Douglas Park gaffer was delighted to sign forward Roman Wallner on loan from Falkirk last Friday, and hopes he’ll be joined by an as-yet unidentified long-term target.
Reid was keeping his cards close to his chest yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, but said: “There are one or two players that I’ve been trying to sign for some time; this is one of them and I’m hoping to have him in by Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Reid has challenged his battle-weary stars to prove they’re over Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Dundee by dumping Albion at Forthbank.
He said: “When you’re top of the league it’s important to win every game, whether you win or lose your last one.
“I expect a tough game; Stirling will be no push-overs as they proved by winning 6-0 against Stranraer in the Scottish Cup.
“It’s really important for us to bounce back and respond in the right manner against Stirling.
“I don’t think we’ve got anything to worry about, and the mood and spirit is high.
“We’re all disappointed in Saturday’s defeat, but once the final whistle goes there’s nothing you can do about it, so there’s no point in looking back too much.
“If you dwell on misfortune and defeats it creates negativity and we don’t want that at this club.”
In summing up Saturday’s defeat in the top-of-the-table clash at Dens Park, Reid said: “It’s disappointing that we’re only three points ahead, because I thought we controlled the match.
“We were disappointed to lose in the manner that we did, but we didn’t trouble them enough in the final third. Credit to Dundee for defending well.
“We missed a penalty but it was just one of those days.
“That was the first time we failed to score this season, but that’s football and you’re going to have set-backs.
“There isn’t a team that goes through a season without any set-backs, let alone Hamilton Accies.”
Assistant manager Stuart Taylor goes in for an ankle injury tomorrow (Friday), and is expected to be out of action for 8-12 weeks.
Reid hopes to have right-back Tom Parratt back fit by Christmas, but admits the new year might be more realistic.
Winger Kevin Davison, signed from Gretna last summer, has joined Berwick Rangers on an emergency temporary transfer until the end of December.
