HAMILTON captain Alex Neil was delighted with Saturday’s 5-0 demolition of Dunfermline... but insisted it was just another three points.
After three games out, Neil (26), made his comeback during the East End Park super-show, but wants his team-mates to keep their feet firmly on the ground.
And he warned that every game between now and the end of the season will be like a cup final if Hamilton want to win the Irn-Bru First Division.
The midfield ace said: “There are days like that when everything clicks, everybody plays really well, and everything comes off for you. But it’s just another three points, even though we played really well.
“The next game against Morton is the most important thing for us now.
“If we don’t beat Morton then the three points we got against Dunfermline will have been a waste.
“We’re looking to win all of our home games, we have a good record here, and it’s a massive game.
“Every game now is the biggest of the season for us, one after another, because teams are trying to catch us while we’re trying to pull away.”
He added: “We’ve started the season really well and I think on Saturday we showed that we’re not just a flash in the pan — hopefully we’re going to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
“But everybody here knows that we’re only 10 games in and it’s still early doors.
“It’s been great over the 10 games, but we’ll be making sure that everybody keeps their feet on the ground and that, come Saturday’s game against Morton, we try and go for a win.
“I think everybody knows that we’re a good side, but we need to keep our consistency and not pick up injuries. You need a wee bit of luck as well, so we’ll just keep our fingers crossed that things keep going the way they are.”
Neil says confidence at Accies is high at the moment, and that Saturday’s incredible result just added to the feel-good factor.
He added: “We’re confident. We know what we’ve got in the team and the capabilities that everybody’s got, and the good thing is that we try to play to our strengths.
“Everybody’s got different strengths and weaknesses but I think what has benefited us most has been the teamwork and effort we’ve put in.
“The younger lads have another year under their belt and the progress they’ve made has been unbelievable – I think a lot of credit needs to go to them and how they’ve turned out results every week, which is difficult for young lads.
“We’re a hungry group of lads that want to do well, so we’ll be looking to win again on Saturday.”
