Reid confident of adding more signings before season starts

ACCIES boss Billy Reid is keen to bring in a few more players before the start of the First Division campaign.

Having signed defender Stuart Taylor as player-assistant manager, former St Johnstone goalkeeper Bryn Halliwell and ex-Livingston striker Neil Teggart, Reid now wants to bring in a few more players to strengthen the squad.

“We will be looking to sign one or two players more before the new season starts, and we are positive about achieving that target,” said the Hamilton boss.

Reid comes back to work on Monday following a holiday break, and when he gets back to New Douglas Park he will assess what players he wants to bring to Hamilton.

The Accies manager also stated his eagerness to get the new season going.

On Saturday, August 4, Hamilton will kick of its First Division campaign with a tough home tie against Dunfermline Athletic.

“We are delighted to be playing Dunfermline at home,“ added Reid. This will be good test for us on the opening day against one of the best teams in the league.”

Twelve days after the Hamilton game, Dunfermline will play their first game in the UEFA Cup competition.

Accies will be hoping that the Dunfermline team have their minds on European glory at the start of the season rather than the long arduous road ahead in the First Division.

After playing the Fifers, Hamilton will have a CIS Insurance Cup game on Wednesday, August 8, and a league game against Clyde the following Saturday.

The game against the Bully Wee at Broadwood will be the first home game in the league for Clyde with new boss, Scotland legend Colin Hendry.

However, Accies fans will be looking forward to meeting another legend, Kevin Keegan.

Fans who have helped back the club financially with a Soccer Savings account are being rewarded with the chance to show off their own skills under the watchful eye of the former Liverpool and England star.

The club’s Soccer Savings initiative has attracted the former England manager and twice European player of the year to offer account holders free use of Kevin Keegan’s Soccer Circus on Wednesday, July 4.

Non-account holders are also welcome to attend and have the chance to meet Keegan simply by opening an account on the day.

The Soccersaver account offers supporters a new way to save and support their club at the same time, providing assistance to youth development, or simply additional revenue to help take the club forward.

Soccer Circus is the world’s first interactive football skills game.

It will be held next to Braehead Retail Park on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Doors open at 10am and close at 8pm, with Soccer Savings account holders invited to test their fitness, ball control and shooting accuracy before taking part in a beat the goalie competition.

Fans who attend Soccer Circus will also benefit from discount vouchers on other Xscape attractions.
