Captain is disappointed at draw with Livi

HAMILTON captain Marvyn Wilson admits he was disappointed in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Livingston - because he wants to keep close to league leaders Gretna.

Accies sit in third place, seven points behind the Raydale Park side, and Wilson admtted that he hoped his side would have nudged that bit closer, courtesy of a win over John Robertson’s men.

He hopes Hamilton can make amends when they take on Queen of the South at Palmerston Park on Saturday.

Wilson, who made his comeback from a cracked rib as a second-half substitute in the New Douglas Park clash with the West Lothian side, said: “We’ve got to look on that result as two points dropped, without a doubt.

“We missed a couple of chances, and our goalkeeper, big Davie McEwan, made some great saves for us.

“However, it’s two points dropped and we’re very disappointed about the result, because we want to keep on the tails of Gretna.

“We’re disappointed, but we’ll rally for this weekend.

“It will be a tough game at Palmerston Park because Queen of the South are down there at the bottom and are fighting for their lives.

“But we’re fighting for the other side of the coin, so we’ll be going to Dumfries with the same attitude to win, as they’ve got to save themselves.”

Wilson admits he’s been left frustrated by the rib injury that had kept him out of action for two games before coming on as a substitute replacing Paul McLeod after 58 minutes of Saturday’s draw.

He said: “It’s been very frustrating – like everything else, it’s been a bit stop-start again for me this season, but hopefully that’s me over the rib injury now, and I can just try and get back.

“It’s still a bit sore, but I think that’s the way it’s going to be for the next few weeks.

“The injury happened during the 2-1 win over Airdrie on November 11, and it’s taking a wee bit of time to heal.

“It’s an injury you can sometimes get away with, but any knock on it at the moment is just agony.”
