Vox pop: Big Brother and reality TV

WITH Big Brother drawing to a close on Friday night, and X Factor now in full swing, we asked some Hamilton shoppers for their views on reality television.

Deborah Shevlin (36) from Hamilton, said: “Shows like Big Brother are rubbish. The people who get on the shows just want to be famous and there is nothing entertaining about them. The only one I’ve ever watched is I’m a Celebrity because at least it’s a bit different.”

Karen Duffy (23) from Blantyre, said: “I do watch Big Brother. I’d like Sara to win the show. People are always complaining about reality television but it’s just good fun. I’d never apply to go on a show like that, though.”

Pauline Taggart (22) from Blantyre, said: “I watch most reality shows and I’ve really enjoyed Big Brother this year. It’s fun and you get some interesting people on it. I wanted Lisa to win, but now she’s gone I’m not sure.”

Dean Guthrie (21) from Hamilton, said: “I really like X Factor; the auditions are always funny. I’ve watched Big Brother right from the first series but you don’t get sick of it because it’s different people each time. I want Mikey to win this year.”
