A 9pm curfew on under-16s is to be trialled in Cornwall. We asked shoppers in Hamilton if they think a similar curfew should be imposed to curb yob behaviour in South Lanarkshire.
Ann Laird (57) from Larkhall said: “They should definitely impose a curfew because young people just cause trouble if they are out on the streets. If they are found out after the curfew, I think they should get lifted by the police.”
Jean Stewart (62) from Hamilton said: “I think this is a good idea. People under 16 cause so much trouble and at least if they are kept at home then their parents will know what they are doing and can keep an eye on them.”
Nicola Corrigan (20) from Hamilton said: “I think there should be a curfew during the week, but parents should get to make the decision for weekends. I have a younger brother and sister who are 15 and 16, and I worry about what they get up to.”
Ryan Watson (21) from Hamilton said: “They should definitely put a curfew on under 16s. They had a curfew here for a while, and I think they should have stuck with it.
