I refer to the article in last week's Advertiser about the concerns the Parent Council at Uddingston Grammar, rightly expressed about the delay in completing the new school.
However, the delay isn't due to “a vocal minority” but is entirely the responsibility of South Lanarkshire Council.
Building a new school on a functioning floodplain is against planning law and the outstanding problems are almost entirely due to the consequential unforeseen problems resulting from the rather silly decision to build the new school on this site.
Furthermore, there are very serious outstanding safety issues relating to potential flooding as well as traffic and other problems which need to be satisfactorily addressed before the school can be occupied.
I am sure the Uddingston Grammar Parent Council, like myself, will want all of these issues properly resolved before the school is occupied.
