Cross at your peril in Hamilton

Unless our planners intend to provide us with traffic lights at the top of Union Street, Hamilton’s famous Peacock Cross will soon have to be renamed Graveyard Cross (or Vulture Cross).

Some bright spark has decided to have the traffic island moved away from the bus stop, closer to the opposite side. Any pedestrian brave enough to try to cross over towards Wellhall Road is now faced with traffic coming from three different directions — one of them (Almada Street) being a blind corner!

Would our clever planners please come out of their cars and try to cross there at peak times?

What was previously quite a feat has been turned into a dangerous endeavour.

G. Picken, Cameron Crescent, Hamilton.
