An own goal

I am writing about the article in last week’s Advertiser regarding Hamilton Accies ‘evicting’ their fans’ social club.

The football club say they need extra space for a players’ lounge and a TV room.

A TV room would only be used very occasionally when some of the bigger clubs were visiting. I believe there is ample space for this upstairs.

As for the players’ lounge: why can’t they, and visiting players, continue to lounge where they have done over the past years?

I believe the directors realised that, with the increased influx of home and visiting supporters, there will be a large increase in bar sales (with accompanying profits) and they want to benefit rather than the social club.

I feel particularly sorry for our barman, Kenny, who is now going to be out of a job through no fault of his own.

Loyal Accies supporter.
