I AM writing about the recent story in the Advertiser about car parking.
I live in Station Road, Blantyre. Along with my neighbours, I am fed up with people leaving their cars here, going for the train to work and not coming back till 6pm.
Every day these people park outside my gate. They even park at bus stops, denying people access to the bus or even to stop the bus as cars block their way.
The council recently painted double yellow lines at the corner of Farm Road so they cannot park there, but they are now moving further up Station Road.
Five of my neighbours have cars and are unable to park because of these people.
It’s time the council did something about this. Just last year a young boy was knocked down as he couldn’t see the traffic because of cars parked at the corners.
I wonder if those who leave their cars here would like us to park our cars outside their homes for six hours a day, blocking their driveways. Station Road is getting out of hand just now with traffic. It’s time the police paid a visit just to see the amount of cars parked there.
I would welcome some kind of permit for the residents of Station Road who have cars.
Angry resident, Station Road, Blantyre.
