Parents’ comments ‘childish’

I felt I had to respond to recent letters in the Advertiser from parents of St John's pupils. I actually laughed at how childish and inaccurate their comments were.

I now wonder if there is something sinister happening in the Hope Street annexe; some type of parent/child role reversal?

It reminded me of a child taking a tantrum, when often an older person would ask “Who stole your scone?” Well someone has not only stolen theirs but appears to have scoffed it as well!

However, in the midst of their childish behaviour one resident in Hamilton has extended the hand of friendship, and it is very kind of her. Every day, in the morning and afternoon, she smiles and waves to the children as they pass her window.

The children's faces light up when they see her and this kind gesture has made such a difference for them.

They were used to going to a school where everyone knew each other and chatted and smiled. Many of them are now feeling nervous, apprehensive, and a bit lonely so this lady’s kindness is very welcome.

Regarding the other two writers: they have embarrassed their school with their ill-conceived letters.

I am quite sure the head teacher wishes she could send them both to the naughty corner!
